Capital C is for the candy trimmed around the Christmas tree,
H is for the happiness with all the family,
R is for the reindeer prancing by the window pane,
I is for the icing on the cake as sweet as sugar cane,
S is for the stocking on the chimney wall,
T is for the toys beneath the tree so tall,
M is for the mistletoe where everyone is kissed,
A is for the angels who make up the Christmas list,
S is for Old Santa who makes every kid his friend…
Wait a minute!
Whatever happened to CHRIST on this supposed CHRISTMAS Alphabet Song? Ok so it’s just a classic, cute, Christmas song. (I still sing it too.)
Yet, I should still ask, where is CHRIST at all in our Christmas celebrations?
Isn’t Christmas supposed to be remembering the Birth of CHRIST?
So how can we take away the celebrant from the celebration?
How can we take away Christ from Christmas?
Because though the Christmas tree, the bonus and 13th month salary, the exchange gifts, the partying, the singing, the dancing and the feasting may not be bad, please don’t forget the “Celebrant”.
He is the “Reason for the Season”, the “Star of the Occasion”, the “Cause for the Celebration.”
We might be putting so many things on Christmas that we leave no more room again for Christ to be born! (Remember the original Christmas story?)
This CHRISTMAS be sure you still have some space for CHRIST.
And you will truly have a Merry Christmas!
